Chapter Twenty-Three

Heidi had a fantastic couple of days with her parents. They ate the Indian last night and stayed up late playing cards. Today was spent lazing by the pool, enjoying three lots of 50 laps and cocktails with her mum before her mum disappeared to cook the mandatory family roast they’d share together tonight. She wasn’t going to contest that; her mum made the finest roast. As she cooked dinner, Heidi and her father enjoyed a few beers and shot some pool in the games room. It had been a perfect couple of days together, and she was so glad they’d done it. Just the simplicity of playing pool with her dad while her mum cooked a roast was enough to rejuvenate her. Granted, not in their own home, but still, she wouldn’t change any part of this for the world.
